YMCA Opens New Child Development Center at Covenant House Academy Grand Rapids

Grand Rapids, MI (August 5, 2015) – On Thursday, August 6, at 3:00 pm the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids, in partnership with Covenant House Academy Grand Rapids, will open a new Child Development Center for the community as well as the non-traditional students attending Covenant House Academy Grand Rapids.

The Y’s Child Development Center at the Covenant House Academy Grand Rapids will provide infants, toddlers, and preschoolers with a safe and nurturing environment filled with opportunities to grow and explore the world around them. The Y’s engaging curriculum helps children reach developmental milestones and prepares them for academic learning.

The new Child Development Center is licensed and will be open from 7:00 am – 6:00 pm, Monday – Friday. The Center will have low child-teacher ratios, offer free Great Start Readiness Program preschool, and offer part-time/full-time child care. The child development center will also provide healthy meals/snacks, creative curriculum, swim lessons for preschoolers, outdoor experiences, and more. Financial assistance is available for those who qualify and all children enrolled full-time will receive a free YMCA youth membership. DHS is accepted.

The Y’s Child Care programs help kids develop strong, positive self-esteem in a warm and nurturing environment, offering full-day child care, before/after school care, holiday break day camps, out of school day care, and summer day camp.
